Vazhakai varuval or Raw banana fry is a traditional South Indian fry prepared for all special occasions. It goes well with sambar, mor kuzhambu, puli kuzhambu and rasam.


A simple, spicy and tasty side dish which can be prepared under 10 minutes. There are different varities of Vazhakai Varuval, but this variety is one of the simplest and tastiest, which is prepared with homemade spicy chilli powder.

Ingredients

1 Raw Banana
3 Pods Garlic chopped
1 Tbsp Cooking oil
1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
2 Tsp Homemade Chilli Powder or Sambar powder
Salt as required

Method

1.Peel the skin of the raw banana. Cut it into slices and keep it soaked in water.

2. In a frying pan, add oil and garlic, let it fry for 2 minutes.         


3. Add the sliced raw banana, chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix everything.


4. Cover with a lid and let it cook for 10 minutes.

5. Serve hot with sambar rice.
