Prep Time : 3 Hours
Cook Time : 20 Minutes

Cuisine - Indian

Peas pulav is the simplest rice variety which tastes close to vegetable briyani. I prefer having peas in this fashion rather eating it separately. It is best prepared with coconut milk and basic spices. A healthy dish that is suited for kids too. It goes well with raitha, paneer butter masala, mutter paneer or with simple tomato chutney.

Ingredients:

1 Cup Rice
1/2 Cup Green Peas
1 Green Chilli
1 Onion thinly sliced
1/2 Stick Cinnamon
1 Bay Leaf, 4 Cloves
1 Tsp Cumin seeds & 1 Tbsp Oil
1 1/2 Cup Water
1/2 Cup Fresh Coconut milk

Method:

1. Soak the green peas for 3 hours and soak the rice for 30 minutes.
2. Place the pressure cooker on a medium flame, add 1 Tbsp oil and 1 tsp cumin seeds. Let it
    splutter.
3. Then add cloves, cinnamon stick and bay leaf. Let it fry for a minute.
4. Add slit green chilli and onion. Sauté the onion until it turns translucent.
5. Once sautéed, add the peas and fry for a minute.
6. Add the rice and fry for 2 minutes.
7. Now add 1+1/2 cups water, 1/2 cup fresh coconut milk and 1 Tsp salt.
8. Mix everything well and cover with the lid and cook until 2 whistles.
9. Once the pulav is ready, mix it well so that the peas gets distributed evenly.
10 Serve the pulav with Paneer Butter Masala.
