Homemade Puff Pastry Recipe

Ingredients

2 Cups All Purpose Flour
3/4 Tsp Salt
1 Tbsp Butter + 5 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Sugar
3/4 Tbsp Active  Dry Yeast
1/2 Cup + 1 Tbsp Milk

Method

1. In a medium mixing bowl, add flour, salt, milk, sugar, yeast and 1 tbsp of butter.
2. Mix everything well until combined.
3. If the dough is sticky add few tsp of flour and continue kneading.
4. The dough should be soft and not sticky. Add the flour 1 tsp at a time until the dough is formed.
5. Once the soft dough is formed, place the dough in a lightly floured tray and cover it with plastic         wrap. Refrigerate the dough for 4 - 6 hours
6. Take 5 Tbsp of cold butter, cut it in to slices and place it between the wax paper.
7. Roll the butter flat in to square. This process has to be done faster, to avoid softening of the butter.
8. Wrap the butter and place it in the refrigerator for one hour.
9. After 6 hours take the dough and place the dough on a floured surface or wax paper.
10. The dough have risen just half the size, enough for the pastry.
11. Roll the dough flat lengthwise to 10 inches. Place the cold butter in the center of the dough.
12. Wrap the butter completely and clear the flour on the dough.
13. Again roll the dough flat to inches. Fasten the process, as the butter might be softened and that             makes the rolling process difficult.
14. After rolling the dough for 10 inches, three fold the dough clearing the flour on the surface and           place it in the floured tray. Refrigerate the dough for one hour.
15. After one hour, roll the dough again for 10 inches, repeat the process of three folding again.
      Refrigerate the dough for one hour.
16. This process has to be repeated for 2 more times.
17. After rolling for the last time, the dough has to be in the refrigerator for 3 more hours.
18. The puff pastry is now ready to be made in to desired shapes and fillings.
19. Cook in the pre-heated oven for 20 - 25 minutes or until golden brown.
